EU exit

Please note that, in the event of the UK leaving the EU without a negotiated agreement, some CAA website content and application forms may continue to carry the EASA logo or reference the EU or EASA rather than the UK CAA in the short term. These will be updated in due course following the UK’s departure from the EU. In the meantime, the guidance provided and the application forms accessed via the CAA website portal will continue to be valid.

Title:AERONAUTICAL DATA ASSOCIATED WITH AIRSPACE DESIGN
Description:This policy statement presents the CAA policy and guidance to all stakeholders when originating aeronautical data associated with airspace design. The intention is to ensure that the data bound for the UK Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) is fit for purpose and in line with the necessary aeronautical data quality (ADQ) requirements as set out in EU Reg 73/2010 and further described in Annex A of CAP 1054.

The aeronautical data in scope includes:

• ICARD requests (5LNC)
• Latitudes & longitudes based on the WGS84 ellipsoid
• Tracks & distances based on the WGS84 ellipsoid
• Common airspace route/area types
• Metadata

The policy document describes the stakeholder responsibilities and associated processes required when submitting aeronautical data in scope for regulatory approval and subsequent AIP promulgation.

Annex A to the policy document contains detailed instructions relating to our preferred means of compliance (CAA Aeronautical Data template)

The CAA Aeronautical Data Template spreadsheet (AeroData-YYYY-####-v1.0.xlsm) is available to download and populate as described in Annex A:
