EU exit

Please note that, in the event of UK participation in EASA and mutual recognition of licences and certificates ceasing, some CAA website content and application forms may continue to carry the EASA logo or reference the EU or EASA rather than the UK CAA in the short term. These will be updated in due course following the outcome of the transition period negotiations on the long-term aviation relationship between the UK and the EU. In the meantime, the guidance provided and the application forms accessed via the CAA website portal will continue to be valid.

Title:The Giving of Instruction for Remuneration by the Holder of a United Kingdom Private Pilot’s Licence (Aeroplanes) that includes a Class Rating Instructor Rating (Single Pilot Aeroplane)
Description:The PPL(A) issued under the European Aircrew Regulation permits the holder to receive remuneration for the giving of instruction in flying. The Air Navigation Order has been amended to allow the equivalent privilege for the holder of a PPL(A) issued under UK legislation including FI(A) and AFI(A) ratings , but did not include holders of Class Rating Instructor Ratings for single pilot aeroplanes (CRI(SPA)). This exemption allows UK PPL(A)/CRI(SPA) holders to receive remuneration for aerial work which consists of flying instruction in a club environment in advance of further amendment of the Order.
