UK Civil Aviation Regulations

These are published by the CAA on our UK Regulations pages. EU Regulations and EASA Access Guides published by EASA no longer apply in the UK. Any references to EU law and EASA Access guides should be disregarded and where applicable the equivalent UK versions referred to instead.

Approvals for steep approach and landing (SAL) operations are stated in the Operations Specifications certificate issued in accordance with the EU Air Operations Regulations. Airworthiness approval for the conduct of steep approaches will generally appear in the AFM as a steep approach supplement. This supplement will specify a maximum approach angle and the limitations and operational procedures required to ensure safe approaches up to this approach angle. If no such entry is contained within the AFM it must be assumed that the aeroplane is not so cleared for SAL operations. Use this form to check and affirm your compliance.
