This General Exemption ORS4 1553 replaces recently published General Exemption ORS4 1548 due to some unintentional technical errors during the initial renewal. ORS4 1548 is now revoked and replaced by ORS4 1553.

This General Exemption relieves aircraft from their Permit to Fly condition which prohibits overflight of any assembly of persons or any congested area of a city, town or settlement. The aircraft concerned will still need to avoid towns and cities, apart from under the conditions of 3) i, ii and iii below, but it is envisaged that this Exemption will make flight planning easier for the operators of the aircraft concerned without compromising safety.
