EU exit

Please note that, in the event of the UK leaving the EU without a negotiated agreement, some CAA website content and application forms may continue to carry the EASA logo or reference the EU or EASA rather than the UK CAA in the short term. These will be updated in due course following the UK’s departure from the EU. In the meantime, the guidance provided and the application forms accessed via the CAA website portal will continue to be valid.

Reference:ORS4 No.1242
Title:Maintenance of Microlight and SLMG Class Ratings Issued Prior to 1 February 2008
Description:Under the Air Navigation Order 2016, microlight and SLMG class ratings (regardless of the licence they are included in) are required to be maintained on a 24 month validity period cycle, as set out in Chapter 2 of Part 3 of Schedule 8. References to the validity provisions set out in Section 1 of Part C of Schedule 7 to the Air Navigation Order 2009 have been removed.
This exemption allows the specified licence holders to maintain a microlight or SLMG class rating under the Air Navigation Order 2009 arrangements set out in Section 1 of Part C of Schedule 7. This allows the use of the previous ‘5 hours in 13 months’ flight experience and validity arrangement, or the option to obtain a ‘certificate of test’ with a 13 month validity period.
